At Portland Utilities, we are always concerned about the way our projects
impact local businesses and homeowners. By utilizing the latest "trenchless" construction
techniques we can minimize disruption lawns, landscaping and roadways,
while often speeding up project completion times.
Trenchless pipe bursting technology allows us to replace aging water and
sewer pipes by digging only small starting and ending pits instead of digging
up entire lengths of pipe and replacing them. During the process, the old
pipe is fragmented, underground, by a bursting tool, while the new pipe
is simultaneously pulled into place following the path of the old pipe.
The small pits at the beginning and end of the pipe facilitate bursting
operations.
Pipe Bursting is environmentally friendly and requires minor restoration
